Once the wear ring cools down after installation, it will contract back to its original size, providing a snug fit and maintaining the necessary tight tolerances for proper functioning.

Using light oil, lithium grease, or cooling would not achieve the same effective fitment as heating does. Lubricants like oil or grease might help with reducing friction during installation but could also cause issues if they impede the retention of the ring or if the ring is designed to fit closely without lubrication. Cooling would contract the wear ring further, making installation more difficult. Therefore, heating is the preferred method in this scenario to ease the installation process.
